Also, through SEA Handling, the Company supplies handling services, such as ticketing, check-in, passenger boarding and disembarkation, lost & found, special assistance, mail, cargo and baggage logistics, and aircraft cleaning services, to over 200 airlines.
SEA S.p.A. was founded in 1948, and is today a joint stock company controlled by the Municipality of Milan (with an 85% stake). The Company fully owns SEA Handling. In 2008, the Group realised a turnover of €635 million employing over 5,100 employees and managing traffic of over 19 million passengers in Malpensa and over 9 million in Linate.
The Human Resources division of SEA needed to exchange sensitive information such as employee and supplier records, employment or collaboration contracts, and pay slips between Linate and Malpensa head offices with maximum confidentiality.
They needed a system that could be used alongside email in daily
operations, to guarantee that data transmission was carried out
with the highest standards of confidentiality without disruption of
its employees work processes.
The company's main requirements were:
SEA airports decided to adopt a solution based on Boole Server™ Enterprise Edition including load balancing and fail over systems based on two servers configured internally to a farm.
The servers were deployed on the existing infrastructure, without need for additional dedicated hardware purchase.
The system encrypts all files managed by Boole Server™ at 2048bit, allowing solely authorised users to decipher the content. This ensures sensitive data can only be viewed and used by authorized staff, without the risk of critical information being unduly intercepted.
Using Boole ServerTM, authorized SEA staff can work directly on the protected files, being able to share them with other users according to highly controlled policies: for example, a user may be authorized to read the content of certain files but without the ability to modify or to even save them locally, while another user can be granted read and write privileges, which may be granted for a limited time.
The solution includes an advanced auditing system that allows for complete and detailed track of any operations carried out on protected files, keeping the data owners and managers apprised of who views, modifies or shares protected files.
Boole Server™ has provided SEA's HR group with a new system that complements their existing communications platform, allowing them to exchange confidential information electronically alongside the use of email, without any need for staff training or disruption in operations.
Given the simplicity of its intuitive interface, Boole
Server™ has been integrated quickly into the ordinary working
practices of the HR staff, despite their varying levels of IT
skills. The high protection standards offered by the solution
guarantees maximum security to information shared between sites,
helping the group save time and money with digital communication
while ensuring the safety of confidential and sensitive data.
"Boole ServerTM proved to be extremely advantageous for our
needs: immediately operative, simple to configure, fully integrated
into our system. It has been incredibly simple to educate employees
on how to use it, and has already proven to be cheaper, faster and
a lot more secure than a courier system"
